Once you're past your restrictions being lifted you should be ok...I have gone slow and tested out each thing I do. I'm just now starting to leap almost at a full split. I also have a larger diameter ball to reduce the risk of any dislocation.

Shugaplum,
When you posted that first pic really inspired me. Not to dance but to get my life fully back. I was a wrestler but when It came to dancing my feet just got tangled up. The stories I could tell. You mentioned large head.. did you get 38mm or go metal on metal. I did the 38mm with poly liner. non cemented. I am just over 6 weeks and I can touch my shoe now but not tie shoes yet.. I think I could but dont want to push to soon. Take care, Pilot1

pilot, Shuga hasn't visited us since 4th Feb so don't expect an answer any time soon! Why don't you search through her posts? I'm almost certain she mentioned it somewhere. I have a feeling it was metal on plastic but the size I cannot recall.

Hi Sugaplum,
Fantastic pictures. It's been a while since I've been on. I got through my surgery and everything is fine. Yesterday was my first day that I was able to spend a full day without a cane. I'd like to thank you and everyone for your words of encouragement and advice. You are very inspiring and I'll check in to see how you and everyone is doing. Cheers! Renee |

Hello all! It certainly has been awhile! I'm very sorry for my absence...I love all of you dearly but I'm out enjoying my fabulous new hip!!
I hit 5 months about a week ago. I feel wonderful still. I took my first dance classes in the city at the beginning of the month. I managed to get through them but it was tough. Not because of my hip but because of the strength I lost when my hip was bad. To be honest I don't know what my diameter is...but Jo was right (as usual!) that it is metal on plastic. The ion discharge risk applies to me as I am 26 and would like to have children someday. My doctor is very confident in what he gave me and has given the same thing to many other professional dancers. The biggest challenge right now is the weather. For someone who is willing to kick my legs to my face, I am very cautious with the ice and snow. I made sure I got some very good boots and I tread carefully. I would hate to slip and fall resulting in problems after I've been feeling so great! I will be sure to post at 6 months...pictures and a follow up! All my love and happy thoughts to my fellow hippies! I'll keep checking in to help answer questions!

Hey, Shuga.....so great to hear from you! And great to hear you're doing well! I'm betting you just need a little time to get those muscles awake again and you'll be kickin' it in your dance lessons. Take care, hon....let us hear from you any ol' time!
((((HUGS))))

![]() Seriously, it's great to hear from you, shuga. We know when people don't spend time with us *sniff* it's because they're too busy getting on with their lives. And so it should be. Chicks always leave the nest in the end.
