Tweety, It's funny because I would do the same thing, walking around the circular pattern of the house. I have three dogs and one of them would follow me at first and then realize I was going in circles. He would leave me at the exit of the living room and meet me at the other end of the room when I returned! The other two dogs wanted no part of it and ignored me. Yes, they all three thought I was crazy too!

Me too! Me too! I'd walk a circle in the living room, out into the hall to the (long) kitchen where I'd walk from one end to the other then back into the living room! I do believe, according to the books of the Ms Austin and Bronte, it was common practice in the 1700-1800 but then they did tend to have bigger living rooms than these days!

The decision about the TEDS hose is somewhat mixed these days. Some doctors use them and others don't. They ARE a pain to get on and off and sometimes can literally cut off circulation at the top if they are too tight.

To be honest, mine were so tight they made my legs swell and I took them off after about 6 days whilst still in hospital. I deliberately left them laying on the bed beside my legs when the surgeon came to see me and he never even commented! I never wore them again. I figured I was on anti-coagulants anyway so what's the difference!
(I'm not actually recommending it - I knew there was a risk attached but was prepared to accept that.)

Hi Bod, Hope you are continuing to do well. I am one of the posters who had good luck with the elastic socks but perhaps they aren't for everyone.
I am about 6 1/2 weeks post surgery and no longer wear the socks but still have some mild ankle swelling. I usually just put my feet up while I am reading so that the fluid can move away from the ankle/foot area. How are you doing? Keep posting and good luck! |

I'm dreading the thought of wearing TED stockings this time around as February is our hottest month of the year and we are experiencing an extremely humid patch atm. If it isn't 100% humidity then it is pretty close. I've already positioned a huge fan facing my armchair for when I get home from hospital.
On the bright side though I'll be able to go for plenty of walks without having to worry about slipping in puddles, no snow here, but plenty of rain! Malls are great for winter walking, if you can get someone to drive you there. |
