That is so true. And I remember all of us trying to type and make sense(except Patti) while we were so stoned to the bone..In a wierd way I kind of miss it.

LOL! Which part?
I am not so far removed from the BYOPs, I am afraid--- but it's getting better. My new knee has been very grumpy since my other knee started acting up a couple of months ago, but now that I've had the partial menisectomy--- both are starting to settle down. Also my back. I am finally able to walk without a limp and I think all my body mechanics are getting better. I started getting a little achy after school today and realized I hadn't even had a Tylenol since early this morning. That's progress!

Sounds like you are doing great Beach! Are you still walking with a cane or all on your own since the scope?
Doug, you can live vicariously through all of us June TKRs that are about to start sluring the words.

So is this kind of like "Did you survive the 70's and still remember it?" Instead, "Did you survive TKR..." Yes, it will be a summer to remember (or not) for lots of us!

Beach, how great that you are feeling better!!! I'm so happy for you! I think walking with a limp causes so many other problems, so I'm not surprised that you see improvements now that you don't limp. Here's hoping the good news continues for you!
I like the idea of a "lounge" too! With drinks---oh boy!!! As long as Josephine doesn't cut us off. One time years ago my husband and I were having a long lunch with drinks with a group of work friends at a local Bennigan's restaurant. My husband joined the group late and we decided to put his drinks on my tab so I could just pay for both of us. The bartender didn't understand that and cut ME off from having any more drinks after I had only had two in an hour and a half! Boy, was I mad, cuz there was no changing the bartender's mind and then he let my husband have all he wanted.....bummer! I never figured out why I got targeted since we were both on the same tab and were drinking different things....guess I just looked like a lush. Fortunately in THIS lounge, the only drinking and driving we'll be doing will be navigating from the computer to the bedroom to sleep at night!

Maybe I spoke too soon and jinxed myself... my knees are kinda sore now. Actually I am sure it is because I have started back on my knee rehab exercises. I have noticed my ROM is slipping in my new knee and I know I need to strengthen both knees. I can't get back to my pool therapy until my incisions are healed and they are still scabby and red.
I used my cane before the 'scope to try and minimize the limp on the bad days, then used the crutches off and on at school after my 'scope-- the idea was to use them until I could walk without limping. I was weight-bearing--- but taking a bit of the load off. Now I am taking my cane to school, but didn't use it at all today and got by fine. I just think that even though it makes me look awfully "wimpy" that I have *got* to keep my gait balanced and not limp. I put a lot of steps on these sore knees every day. 9 more days of school...

Wow... I must need some pain meds. I had a heck of a time finding this lounge. Now for a nice strawberry daiquiri... or Jack straight, like my Daddy.

Stoned to the bone(d). Cute! Beach, I hope your scoped knee feels better soon. My knees have been hurting the past 2 days as well. I think it is due to 2 things. I've been trying to move/walk more, like park farther away etc. and it's catching up with me and I may have strained one leg somehow. Stairs? It is up again with swelling. But I think it will be OK, as I learned here. Just takes time and ups down in this process exist.

1Jt, My mother is scheduled to have TKR on June 25. She is in the "what am I doing" mode now. I'm calling her everyday to make sure she's doing her pre surgery exercises. I also told her to have a gallon jar of stool softeners.
I'll be going down there on the 24th and get her through the first couple of weeks. I've got to install a longer rail on her pool so she can use it when the cut heals.
Now I just have to figure out how to occupy my father while going back and forth to the hospital.

That is great for your mom Doug. A little extra work for you though. She is fortunate to have her son there to help in additiion to his first hand experience. Everyone always makes a big deal about having TKR and being so young or having 2 done at once, but I must say that I think doing all this at an older age deserves kudos of its own. God bless her (and you).

I was at a wedding last December down in Miami. They had one of those chocolate fountains. The idiots who set it up put it close to the edge of a table.
Within minutes of folks entering the reception room, there were about 20 kids all sticking there hands in it......So I joined them.

Just walked in from doing some outside chores. Soaking wet. It's in the mid 90's. I grabbed a cold dill pickle and read your post. Whew...made my mouth shrink up. So I did the only thing I could. Dropped a piece of pickle into my waiting male boxer's mouth. You should have seen his face after a couple of seconds...

Chocolate covered Oreos! They've been around in this part of the country for a few years now...I try to never buy them because they are truly evil.
I'll admit to being a diehard chocolate fan, and as I always tell my students: "Bribery works, chocolate is best and dark chocolate is better!" Too bad they never believe me.... :0
But I have been getting some wonderful gourmet chocolate for my birthday this week, so all is not lost.

Happy Birthday Weezy! How could your students not take the hint about chocolate? I would have been all over that one as a student.
I like white chocolate with my strawberries. Never tried the Oreos but I've seen them around. They just look like too much more me...if there is such a thing.

To really have a 'top-rate' lounge there should be girls dancing...............real tall ones.............just sayin.
Me and the kids are giving my beautiful wife, God bless her, a surprise birthday party this Saturday, complete with a pina colota machine............I'll 'try' to behave............no promises. It's great to see that all us 'ol folks' are doing so well.

Are we all invited to the party? Or do we just "crash" it? I am going to the dollar store today to get some "prizes" for an exam review game for my students and will look for some little umbrellas for the pina coladas...
Patti is tall.... do you dance Patti?
Happy birthday to your wife. She was great fun to have on board "back when" for a while. What a loving and thoughtful family she has to throw a big surprise bash for her! Way to go!
Great to hear from you....

Happy birthday, Dr. Weezy! Hope your day was blessed from start to finish!
Gat, you are the best for treating your wife so wonderfully. Gals love it when their men do special things for them. Makes us feel sooo good.
And Beach... I had that same thought as soon as I read Gat's posting - tall girls dancing. He should have just said Patti. LOL
I love the dollar store. Amazing what you can get there. Now, if they only sold gas! $4/gallon is starting to push my limit. Horses might be cheaper.

Gat, when I turned 50, I was living with my parents (about 2 blocks from our house) and caring for both of them. My Mom had dementia and was in a wheelchair and my Dad was undergoing radiation treatments for lung cancer. I was also trying to work from their house on a work-at-home program. Needless to say, I was one pooped person. My sweet husband (who has NEVER planned ANY event in his life) secretly contacted all our friends and arranged a party for me in a restaurant....complete with a cake, decorations, and a private room for everyone with an open bar. I was so impressed and remember it still. That was one of the most loving thing anyone has ever done for me. I know your wife will feel so special....and you get triple gold stars!!

Happy birthday, Dr. Weezy! Hope your day was blessed from start to finish!
Thanks! today is the "official" day, but we celebrated last Sunday with my favorite unhealthy dinner--fried chicken, potato salad, and strawberries with homemade ice cream for dessert. Hubby did dinner and makes a mean batch of ice cream.
I got to pick out my own "big" present for BD and graduation--and I'm proudly wearing some nice glitter in my ears! I can't decide whether to feel pampered and spoiled or guilty...just not used to getting jewelry!

My husband held an open house for my 50th birthday party and there were literally hundreds of folks there from church and our kids' school. I never felt so loved and cherished! It was amazing. Just tons of friends and it was so special. It was supposed to be a surprise, but my husband needed my help on the invitation... :)
He turns 50 in a few months and I'm wanting to do something really special for him. He's afraid if I hold an open house, no one will show up... he's so wrong. Any ideas??? Keep it reasonably priced.
