Hello to Doug and the "KNEE" people from a lonely "HIP" person. Gee, when I saw Doug pop over into unfamiliar territory (hip forum) a short while back I thought, you know I might be in "shark infested" waters but I am going to go for it in the afterlife of the knee people. Is that kind of like the Village people? LOL
You see, the knee people are so much like my hip at 50. FUN (when I am not moving...HA) Mine was replaced on Feb. 26th....I just cannot seem to get a GANG going with the other hips. Maybe this will inspire someone to jump on board. The only buddy I have is having her hip replaced on Friday. Unfortunately, she will be in lala land for quite a while. And, we were the only females to voice our OUCH opinion about catheters or really it was me that was a wimp about it....You see, that is where Doug came into the hip picture..So anyway, in the mean time, I would just like to enjoy the knees and their stories. I would send a picture of my 5 inch hip scar but my husband and intelligent kids might banned me to the Big Spring State Hospital..You see that is 50 miles due East on Interstate 20. I believe you football fans will know the area well. Remember the movie, Friday Night Lights? That would be my alma mater...good ol MOJO Permian High...also the hometown of George W, Sr. and lets not forget Larry Gatlin and his dear brothers...but we kind of claim him..you see, he did go to the other highschool and was on the winning state team as their dreamy quarterback...WAY BACK THEN>>>
Anyway, Pattipoo, I wish I could copy and paste some good looking hips like your knees but for now IMAGINATION will have to do. Take care knee people and yes Doug, I still say "OIL WELL" like ALLL WELLL...lol....Westexas
P.S. For those calculating the time of typing, yes it is in the middle of the night...husband snoring, hip hurting, dogs snoring, but all four teenagers are in their beds sound asleep and that is a GOOD thing................

Now I'm going to be accused of kidnapping a hip person.
Now it is kind of early for you all to be jumping on me....I did smile at the thought of adding hip pictures to our knee pictures.. I won't faint either.....Maybe just get a little dizzy.
I won't be around today. I have to take several 14 yr old boys swimming at one of our local springs..Good cold water.

OK I can't sit back and let Patty be the only hip person. I am having mine replaced on friday. Kids don't seem a bit concerned or willing to help, what's new.
I have a 22 year old in the army in Alaska (the child I would not allow to play with toy guns is now in charge of millions of dollars of weapons !!) He is planning on climbing Mount McKinley this month.
Jamie is 19 and finally here with us in Ca. in college living at home, mostly on the coach.
Tim is 15, good kid but just experimenting with pot.
Becka the baby is 13 and will kill me yet, we are like oil and water.
Yes, humor must be a great part of life for me.
I have been living on vicodin and hiking mountains pretty much every day. Lucky me got fired as a special ed teacher so I am having a good time right now.
This forum is awesome, I have been reading some knee stuff too. It is probably only a matter of time for my knees!!!!
I am not well versed on knees but did anyone ever ask to see the old parts?
I am going to see if I can see my sawed off femur. My son thought that woould be pretty gross as I was contemplating making a keychain out of it.
Then I thought yesterday it would be decomposing and that would truly be gross.
See you

Westexas - hey! I'm from east Texas, Fairfield area (Freestone County). What a kick that you went to Permian. I love that movie and the TV series. I'm a football crazed fanatic! Our team is only 3A but we go to the playoffs every year and year before last we made it to the championship game only to lose by 1 point.
I have three kids - daughter 21, sons 17 and 15. Three dogs (2 black labs and a German shorthaired pointer), one cat, and one husband. When I brought my hubby home to meet my parents and the matriarch of the family (my aunt), she paid him the biggest compliment ever. Her words were "he's not a Texan, but he'll do". I needed my family to approve of him. He's from Kansas but a confederate at heart.
So welcome to the knee people's side. We do have fun. And we make friends for life over here so be careful!
God bless,

Westexas....I live in Olathe, Kansas now, but my family is from Olney, Archer City, and Dallas. I have spent some great time visiting relatives there. My uncle, aunt and three cousins lived in Midland for many years. So I consider myself a Texan....after all, I DO have a Texas birth certificate and that's all that counts, right? The funny thing is, when I go back to visit, it takes only one or two days and I'm back at the southern accent again. Up "north" in Kansas, I have to be content with just the y'all and a few other southern comments. You can be part of our group for as long as you want!

Just got back from Wakulla Springs. Had a gator approach the swim area. It veered an swam away. It is a beautiful place. Tarzan the Ape Man and Creature from the Black Lagoon were filmed there.
It was a blast sitting in my chair watching the younger folks. The boys are oblivious. They want to get in the water, jump off a tower and act like idiots. The young girls spend 80% of their time adjusting their bathing suits. Kind of like trying to hide a manhole with a handkerchief...Ain't going to work. The other 20% of their time was talking on the cell phone.
Fun day...

Hello All,
This Is So Much Fun. No Wonder I Came To My Knees, I Mean To The Knees. I Just Had A Man Post On The Surgery Hip Side That He Has Had No Pain(in Russia, Of Course) Practically Running Down The Halls After A Week And Probably 20 Years Older Than Me. He Was Not About To Listen To The Potty Chair Stories Or Hard Core Drug Stories For The Pain...lol...anyway, Jamie, You Are A Texan Always As Skeet Says...
And Skeet, We Have Some Major Football To Discuss In The Future....
Hey, Be Good To Judy(sewell44). She's Next On The Hip Hit List....ouch...

My parents actually visited FL when they were filming Black Lagoon and they got to see some of it. I wasn't around yet I guess. All the cool family vacations were before my time. I was later... after my mom had 8 miscarriages! My brothers are ~ 13 years older.

Welllll....I wasn't actually BORN there. I was born in Frankfurt, Germany in a military hospital right after WWII ended. Back then the hospitals there didn't issue birth certificates, so I got one in 1949 from Texas when I got back to the states. Kind of an odd deal, but 100% legal back then. You should have seen the hoops I had to go through about 15 years ago to get a passport, though!!! Oh my.....

Another story about the spring trip today. My 14 yr old son and his buddy of the same age had jumped in and swam out to a big floating swim platform. Sitting in the sun after hitting the 67degree spring water.
I'm sitting up under a cypress tree. Sunglasses on, reading and keeping one of those parental eyes on the area.
I notice two girls come up. One is pretty. One is stunningly beautiful. Both about 19. They started pulling their clothes off......I quit reading.
The beautiful one had outgrown her little bathing suit but I wasn't going to point that fact out.
I watched them wade out and start swimming. They swam straight out to the platform and started talking to my son. I'm thinking "That's my boy". He's sitting there laughing and talking. Eventually, he gets up, dives in and starts swimming, wrestling with his friend etc. The girls are now sunning on the platform.
The boys come up to me. They're hungry...I asked my son about the two goddesses. He gives me a perplexed look and goes, "Oh, they were in my chorus class this year".
The girls were both 14 and going into the 9th grade. They didn't make'em like that when I was 14. Course they didn't wear bathing suits that you could pack in a thimble either.

June 4th, 2008, 03:46 PM
I was reminded at how difficult it to tell a persons age. I told my wife about her and she immediately knew who I was talking about. She's chaperoned the chorus trips for three years. She knows all 80 or 90 of them.
She agreed this girl is going to be a heart breaker in high school.
The other thing that amazed me was that this girls mother was there with two younger children. I can't believe she let that girl walk around with so little on.

Doug... Yes, too much young girl, not enough coverage. Seems the norm today. Sad and scary. As for your son, I bet he noticed more tahn he lets on or will pretty soon.

June 4th, 2008, 06:47 PM
My boys would be appalled. My daughter will only wear a one-piece that has a high neck and covers her behind fully. Quite modest. The boys are embarrassed when the girls aren't full covered up. All their friends wear one pieces or tankini things so no bare midriff shows. Guess we are stuck in the past - the Shedd time warp or something. Plus all their friends are either from church or from their Christian school they attend.
It does minimize the issues I have to deal with. So far... Cody goes off to the secular world after one more year of HS. We'll see what happens then. Although he's a good kid.

Doug, that story was really great. You can bet those little gals not only knew the boys were there but also that you were.....showin' off their stuff! I guess it's all part of growing up. I remember struttin' around like that some too at that age (of course, NOT when my Mom was around...she would have tanned my hide!). It felt good for guys to notice you. But.....it's a lot more dangerous these days with all the weirdos out there. So, I guess it was really good that the Mom was around. I'm with Jenn, though....your son and his friend noticed....and they probably did a little showing off themselves with the horseplay. Your "little guy" is growing up!!!

I just gotta check, Doug...you ARE being sarcastic, right? Based on my knowledge of teen girls (limited to what I see teaching, which is a limited arena....), I'm betting that swimsuit was new this season.
I never cease to be amazed at what the girls will wear to class and how everything seems to be visible. between bras designed to show, and thongs above the pants or teeny skirts that are a joke and prove the child isn't wearing anything underneath...YIKES!
Weezy

Doug,
Great story. I have a 13 year old daughter that likes to try (with some success) to dress to attract the boys.
She is the baby of 4 and will kill me yet.
When she was in preschool her teacher came up to my car one day and said (could you please talk to Becka about kissing boys on the lips) I knew I was in trouble then.

Kids. My 22 year old army guy called me today. He never really says why he called (like on mother's day) but I know in his way it was to wish me well in surgery.
He told me if he decides not to climb Mt McKinley he will try to come and visit as he has leave time.
