Got an idea while perusing Video Jug. We need to eat to keep our strength up? Right? Once a week we find a recipe that looks good or simple and we make it. The proposed time frame would be something like: Monday through Wednesday suggestions are made. Thursday through Friday decisions are made. Saturday trip to market to get ingredients (if necessary). Sunday you or caregiver prepares the dish. Later on that day we all put our 2 cents or euro equivalent in on the thread started just for that recipe. How did it taste? Tough to prepare? Any family members hospitalized as a result? etc.

With that in mind I would like to recommend for this weeks thing we do: (I think instead of 6 metal cups we can use a muffin pan upside down?

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b286/flagady15/smilies/smilieyikes.gif You tempter! As if we all needed such a (glorious) thing to lead us into bad habits!

However, I'm saving this recipe for my next dinner party (had 4 in 8 years! http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b286/flagady15/smilies/wink-1.gif ) but will be an wonderful special sweet and quite a conversation piece. Thanks for that.

I can't believe that I am the only one around who feels the need to occasionally eat. Yes, the desert does look very rich. ("For a time when pizza alone won't get it")
Heres the plan. Our youngest daughter Kellie returned tonight from a short trip to Texas. She explained that she would like to cook a special dinner Sunday for the three of us. I am going to try the desert recipe at Video jug myself on Sunday. I feel myself getting weaker, I only hope I make it to Sunday.
I'll let y'all know if we had to get the fire department involved or not.

The recipe sounds wonderful but I'm working to stay low fat, low carb, low calorie and just can't take the risk of going off half cocked right now. Let us know how easy it is and the kind of cream you end up using to avoid the white chocolate milk fiasco.

What A Good Idea, Sorry I Missed It, I Love To Cook And Am Always Baking Or Making Something Special For My Family, Especially My Husband. I Get Up At 2:30 Every Morning And Serve Him Breakfast In Bed, Have For 16 Years. Best Part Of The Day. Started Doing In Again Third Day I Was Home From Surgery, Nothing Tastes Better Than Pancakes At That Time Of Day, Our Lab Is Waiting For The Kitchen To Open Every Morning That Time. Yesterday I Made Four Loaves Of Banana Bread, Took About 15 Minutes To Get It In The Oven And The Smells And Taste Were Wonderful. Rowdy

I just want someone to make me breakfast and the hot banana bread would be great.
My soon to be Senior in HS came to me last night and said, "Could you go ahead and start making me breakfast every morning so you can get used to it before school starts?" Wanted to knock him out.....

Banana Bread Recipe Makes Four Loaves
Preheat Oven To 300 Degrees F Or 150 Degrees C
6 Large Or 8 Small Really Ripe Bananas Smashed Up
3 1/2 Cups Sugar,
4 Large Eggs,
3/4 Cups Plus 2 Tablespoons Plus 1 Teaspoon Soft Butter
2 1/2 Teaspoons Vanilla
2 1/2 Teaspoons Cinnamon
One 16 Ounce Container Sour Cream
Mix All Of The Above Ingredients And Then Add
5 1/3 Cups All-purpose Flour
1 Tablespoon Plus 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1 Cup Chopped Pecans Or Walnuts
Mix Good.
In A Small Bowl Mix 1/2 Cup Sugar And 1 Tablespoon Cinnamon, Mix Until They Are Uniform
Grease Four Loaf Pans And Then Divide The Cinnamon Sugar Mixture Between The Four Pans And Dust On To The Bottom And Sides
Bake For An Hour Or Until Toothpick Comes Out Clean, (i Don't Know If It Is My Oven But I Always Have To Bake Longer, About Twenty Minutes Longer. But The Recipe Calls For One Hour Or Until The Toothpick Comes Out Clean. Oh Well)
When Banana Bread Is Done Turn Upside Down On Cooling Racks Removing The Pans. The Cinnamon/sugar That Coated The Pans Is Now On The Outside Of The Loaves And This Is What Makes Everyone Love This Banana Bread So Much. I Love It Because It Is So Easy To Make. It Freezes Really Nice Too. I Serve It With A Thin Coating Of Cream Cheese On Each Slice And It Is Also Yummy With A Thin Coat Of Butter When It Is Warm. Hope You All Like This Recipe.

Thanks Rowdy. Sounds much better than bisquick. I'll give it a try. Don't tell Jo and Doug we did a recipe not on the recipe thread. But wait, this one is labeled bake off so we should be OK. lol

Just copy are repost there as well! I have several overly ripe bananas so I am going to go make this at halftime. I'm watching the Saints and Falcons play preseason FB. I LOVE FOOTBALL SEASON!!!!!!!!! Nothing like the sound of helmets and shoulder pads bashing into each other or the sound of cleats coming down the tunnel....

Me, too. He's not that great. He's a jerk for being unwilling to earn his position in Green Bay. What a whiner. I like Aaron Rodgers and will be rooting for him! I hope the Packers rip it up this year.

I'm ready to see what F.S.U. is going to do this year.
Bowden is pretty much turning it over to Jimbo Fisher. Bowden is trying to hang on as long as he can so Joe Paterno doesn't pass him up.
I'm just glad I don't have to work those games anymore. Bunch of drunks all over the place!!

I Am Sooo Glad To See Others Say They Are Sick Of Hearing About Brett Favre. I Don't Know Who I Am Sicker Of Hearing About The Politicians Or Him. At First I Thought He Was Being Squeezed Out And Felt Sorry For Him Them My Husband Told Me Four Months After He Retired He Changed His Mind And Then Got His Feelings Hurt When They Had Made Arrangements To Have A Team Without Him. What A Cry Baby. I Am So Sick Of Athletes Who Retire And The Unretire Add A Season And Repeat. I Retired One Time, No Gold Watch And No Changing My Mind. These Guys Are Wealty Prima Donnas Who Should Be Ashamed Of Themselves. But That Is Just My Opinion. Rowdy

Well said, Rowdy. I think Brett made the same error Montana did. You get famous and successful with one team then when you really should just retire, you want more and go to another team and just gradually disappear rather than leave at the top of your career. Like they need millions more...

And since you brought up politicians... how about that Kerry cheating on his wife while she's fighting cancer... nice guy.

Uh oh, Think there was a blonde moment.
Was it Kerry?? Thought it was Edwards. Get away from those pills girl.

Skeet
August 8th, 2008, 06:53 PM
They all act alike to me... LOL... yep, you got me. Edwards was the bad boy. Kerry probably can't afford to mess around and risk all her money. He is the one with the Heinz wife, right? Or am I totally losing it?

Been a long week, Doug. Lots going on at work and I'm accountable for all the communications - email announcements, presentation packages, etc. I like my new manager but he pulls me into a lot of things and it can get overwhelming. Looking forward to the weekend. Hey, I'm getting my hubby a pick up truck so maybe my nagging won't be as painful now. It's used but he'll finally have a pick up truck again even if we can't afford to drive it. That ought to be worth at least the fence posts!

Skeet

We pick up the truck tomorrow! Timed it right. Should encourage him to do something nice in return...

When Kerry was running, I had to run an escort when his Ketchup Queen wife came to Tallahassee. I have seen many dignitaries over the years but never one as rude as she was.
Yep I think I'd have to set some posts if my wife got me a truck.

I Read A Lot Of The Posts That Follow The News Stories. In One Post Aftert He Story Of Edwards "liason" A Person Wrote It Those Darn Democrats Just Can't Keep Their Pants Zipped. I Guess The Republicans Have Buttons On Their Pants. Anyway, I Laughed, Like It Makes Any Difference To Which Party They Are In, The Fact Remains That This Man Betrayed A Woman He Has Been Married To For 30 Years While She Was Fighting For Her Life. That Said It All For Me, There Is No Excuse That He Can Make That Would Put An Honorable Face On Him Again For Me. I Know We Are Only Human And That Temtation Is A Terrible Thing And These Men Have To Have Huge Egos To Do What They Do But For Me Fidelity Is The Most Important Part Of Your Marriage Vow. If You Can't Trust A Man To Be Faithful To His Wife How Can You Expect He Would Be Faithful To His Country? I Told My Husband That When I Vote Any More I Don't Vote For The Man Who Can Do The Best Job, I Vote For The Man/person I Think Is Capable Of Doing The Least Damage. The Last Thing We Needed Right Now Was Another Scandal Among The Politicians. I Am Just Sorry His Wife Has This To Cope With On Top Of All The Other Things She Is Trying To Overcome. Let's Face It It Cancer Is Hard Enough To Cope With, She Didn't Need Anything Else To Distract Her From The Battle She Faces Against The Cancer. I Pray For Her And For Our Country And The World. Hope I Didn't Offend Anyone. Just Letting Off Some Steam. My Spine Is On Fire Today, Third Day In A Row. Pray For Me, Please, Thanks Rowdy
