We had a blast!

Skeet and her daughter are as wonderful in person as you would guess they are from the forum!

I got to the restaurant first and it was a little like a blind date while waiting.... lol.... and I have had a few humdingers of those..... but then once she and Mandy arrived it was like meeting up with a great friend you just haven't seen for a while.

The time just flew by! After lunch (the server was very patient, but I think she was worried we would *never* leave!) we went down to the local small college campus (where I went my freshman year of college and Mandy goes now) and walked around the beautiful, shady streets and talked and talked and talked. Were your ears burning? We talked about you all! Wish you had all been there with us!

Here are a couple of pictures for proof. I am home first--- since Skeet and Mandy had to stop at Costco to pick up an emergency, replacement cheesecake (I will let HER tell you THAT story! LOL!).

It was so great to finally meet in person. Wish we had done it months ago and hope to do it again soon.

Now it's there. Not sure why it didn't download the first time! This lap top is only as old as my new knees and I only surf & email. Whatever. You both look lovely and relaxed. blue and white. shirts not knees.

Beach is right, we had a blast. I feel like we've known each other for years. We never had a loss of something to talk about. Learned a bit more about each other, reminisced about the early days of bonding when we were all budfing drug addicts, the things we are able to do now, etc.

I'm jealous of Carolyn's scar - it looks so much better than mine, but then mine is a lot longer so I hope that's why it is taking longer to heal pretty.

We had such a great time that I just didn't really want to say good bye! We definitely need to get together again soon. My daughter had so much fun and was amazed at how easy it was to talk with us both. She has shared in so much of the forum that she knows you all!

Carolyn, thanks for being willing to meet me halfway and for a delightful afternoon that I will cherish always!

Forgot to explain about the cheesecake. My youngest wanted to make a homemade cheesecake so I got him all the ingredients and my recipe. He called several times during lunch to check on things and was making excellent progress. Got everything mixed up, assembled, cooked the cheesecake... and then the recipe said to "chill" the cheesecake for 8 hours. Well, for some unknown reason, he decided that meant to put it in the freezer. When he put it into the freezer, he managed to hit the clamp that holds the springform pan together. The pan sprang (as springforms can) open and cheesecake went everywhere! The freezer and most of the stuff in it was covered with cheesecake. It was a huge mess and Jesse was so bummed that after spending like 4 hours working on this masterpiece it was all in pieces! I felt sorry for him and offered to pick up his favorite cheesecake at Costco on the way home... but the story doesn't end there.

When we got to Costco, I managed to lock my keys in the car. The only other set was with my husband who wouldn't be off work until at least 9 pm tonight. I called my 17 year old, Cody, and asked him if he knew of any spare keys. He didn't but he had the key fob thing that unlocks the doors. We tried to make it work over the cell phone - not my idea. That didn't work (big surprise), so he drove to Costco on his way to football conditioning camp. You'd think that was the end, but when we got home I let out the dogs and the one that is supposedly well trained, Harley, ran off and would NOT come when called. Finally got him inside and the other one promptly threw up in the middle of the living room...

I had such a great time today that not even all that could dampen my spirits! Just living the dream!

I'll post my pictures on the picture thread in a few minutes.
