Hey, whomever recommended the Dansko clogs - thank you so much. I went to the store and tried on lots of comfy shoes but just kept coming back to the clogs. They aren't the prettiest shoes they had, but they are wonderfully comfy! I love them. I got black and my daughter said I look like a Dutch Ninja in them!
Thanks again for the great advice!

'Magine what she paid for those, they wont be seeing any brush. Don't worry Doug. New is nice huh Skeet. When my son was little and got a new pair of shoes he would sleep in them. It was the cutest thing. New shoes and a hair cut and he was in heaven!

Had to let mine get some type of styling gel today. I think he said moose? ....Oh the pain...
Had to buy Under Armour shoes for the start of school...

Under Armor shoes? I thought Under Armor was the expensive sports under garments. It seems like it would be Under Armor socks!

They pretty much make everything now. I wish I had bought some stock years ago when they started.

Skeet, The Danskos were my suggestion. Besides tennis shoes, that's all I can wear. I have the clogs in three colors and a couple pair of sandals that are equally as comfy. Maybe one day I'll get my feet and ankle fixed and I can spread my shoe collection out to other brands but that's it for me these days. Oh, I do have a pair of Berkenstocks that are also great on the feet! Karen

$40-50 Tshirt when my son played baseball. Only child, somehow we rationalized it.

When you are in pain, $100+ for shoes that help relieve that pain is a drop in the bucket. I'd pay $500 for a pair if it would get rid of the pain.

Before my surgery shoes seemed like the only thing I could do to try and control the pain besides pills that didn't help much. So i agreee with 1jt. It was then that i upgraded and spent $80 on a pair of Clarks sandals. Still quite comfy.

1jt,
I agree. I don't care what the shoes cost. I found if the feet hurt, the whole body hurts. I like the Asics gel keyanos.

I'll be in the market for some new tennis shoes soon. I've spent a lot of time in mine this past year with a scope and two replacements and their life is running short. I checked the Asics out and see they offer cushioning and stability for the over pronater. Also talks about the heel to toe action. Sounds like a good shoe for me!

To me, the Asics last longer than the Nikes. I also add a heel cushion under the insole.
Isn't it funny how we keep calling them tennis shoes. Never did like that sport. Not any contact.

Plus I've notice my $80 shoes last longer than the $30 ones, so the value is there.

I guess the proper name these days is running shoes but hey.....I'm not running anywhere as I'm sure is pretty much the case with most everyone on this site! I played tennis a couple times in high school but that was about it. I was pretty much put out of commission with anything too aggressive when I was 26 and had my accident.

Well if I'm seen running anymore, I'm real scared, real mad, or real hungry....just sayin'

And my goal is to walk at a normal pace so everyone doesn't pass me by! Just sayin too!

Wore my new shoes to the state fair today (was very careful not to step in any cow pies, etc. They were so comfortable, right out of the box. Made me so happy. And it makes me a couple of inches taller which I liked.
I call them sneakers, Doug. Haven't tried Asics but need new ones soon, so I'll consider them. I think only some are called running shoes, there are also walking, cross training, tennis, etc.
Funny how I balked at spending over $100 on a pair of shoes for me but buy my son new football cleats each year without batting an eye. Same for all his UA apparel. This year he wants me to purchase his FB jersey (seniors have this option) which will, I'm sure, be like $75+
My children apparently don't understand economics, recessions, etc.

Mine says, mom, while you are out can you get a , we need some,... No, there is not any extra $ this week. My husband made the comment, "I don't think he has any idea how bad the economy is." Add to that I'm trying to "wean" him from our wallet so to speak. It's hard for young people today (I know, Iknow) but imagine trying to pay all you need to , rent, gas, food utilities on beginners wages.

Speaking of shoes, I hate to bring up QVC...but my mom, who is 82 started wearing the RYKA brand shoes. And, yes they are hip so to speak...Bought several before my THR back in February and love them. Then I bought several open toed shoes for summer. They are so comfy and not too terribly priced. I also love my Clarks...I wait until they go on sale because they can get a little pricey..Patty

The smartest thing I bought before my THR in July was a pair of Propet slip-on sneakers. It helped to have a 10% off coupon, but I would have bought them anyway. I could wear them even when my ankle swelled post-surgery. And, they're machine washable (haven't had the nerve to try that yet).

Think they should survive a wash, no problem!
I have a collection of slippers similar to this that I always add to the wash. They come up smiling every time!

Oh boy, you girls and your shoes...I think I have stepped on every high heel my wife owns on the way to the bathroom at night.
Jo, I've got a pair very similar to the top pair. They're waterproof.

Well I am here in socal wearing flipflops!!! Having been a runner for years and years and still loving the sport, I can't bear to put them on and not run!!! Doug, they are Asics, I have been running in them for years.
When I take my puppy for a walk I do put on sneakers, which really are sneakers!!! Being the hippy I am, they are from Patagonia and made of recycled materials and hemp and very comfortable!!!

I converted my wife to the Asics. I got her a pair of those gel sole inserts. I think she would wear them to work if she could get away with it.

Jo, is it the hippes who can't wear mules. Cause if it is kneesters I'm breaking the rules! Do those slippers have good cushion? What kind are they, any particular brand? They look nice.

Sadly to say, I have to take all my good shoes and tennis shoes to have Lifts put in them..1/2 inch discrepancy in my leg length. I am in the 4 percentile that this happens to and with the Scoliosis in the upper and lower back this is where the situation lies. Once you do the shoes, there is no going back. I just pray that when the other hip is replaced all will be corrected. And, I LOVE my shoes. So, it is either keep limping or walk normally....Patty

Always go with walking normally. I loved my Dansko clogs so much I got my daughter some new Danskos. She loves them. I'm still waiting for the fall lines to get some nicer shoes to wear with dresses...
