LOL Judles. Actually, there are a lot of steps involved to post a picture. I have a Mac computer and there is a widget I use in which I just drop the photo into it and it gives me the URL -it's really cool, quick, and easy.

Here is my scar at Day 15. The glue has been peeling off a bit on the sides, but it's amazing how it stays in tact. And yes, I can't believe I am posting pics of my butt online!

Gotta love those macs! I just think they are so much easier to operate.

Your scar looks good. I will wind up being just a white line eventually. Gotta love that glue! No zipper effect for you...

Isn't it amazing all the different incision sites? Some are high, some are low. So interesting. Just remember to apply sunscreen LIBERALLY and constantly. Once that scar tissue pigments it stays that way!

Great incision Melissa! Mine is very similar. Curious, what kind of hip did you get?
I too am not versed on getting pics on computer. My husband could help and I mentioned this project, he looked at me like I was crazy to want to post my scar...little does he know about the bonding we do here!!!!

Laurie,
When did you have your surgery?
I didn't even tell mine what I was doing. Thank goodness he was working when I did my photo shoot. He would think the same thing if he knew, lol.

BTW Jo's instructions to post pictures are on a thread called "scar photo's" on the "after hip replacement - recovery discussions"

Hi, My surgery was back on August 26 and I am proud to say that my scar is pretty much white by now. The incision is very similar to Melissa's. Will have to figure out a way to get the scar picture on "for all posterity." LOL

Laurie

I'm cracking up over here. I guess it's easier for the kneesies to post pictures, there butt's aren't involved!

Laurie -I had ceramic on ceramic. My surgeon felt this was the best for me because of my age and my desire to have children in the future too. What did you have?

Judles -I'd love to help, but I actually don't upload the pics the normal way to do so. My boyfriend is an IT person and helped set up the widget for me to make it easier (I have no idea what the hec he did!). However, why don't you print out Jo's instructions on how to post a photo and take your time and follow-it step by step.

My boyfriend actually took the first pic for me to post. I said to him do you think this is too risque to post? And he said, well Meliss, it is a thread to post your scar and that's where it is. He didn't think I was that crazy! However, he has commented on how I became obsessed with this board -constantly checking it and posting! Can't you tell? :)

I prefer to think of it not as "an obsession," but instead as a serious desire to connect with my new family and help those who come after me with their surgeries....that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!!!

I followed Jo's instructions and got through the process and I definitely am NOT a techy person! My husband took my scar picture and kinda laughed that I was posting it, but it was my daughter who had a fit when I told her! She said "you're posting a picture of your butt that anybody on the internet can see?". So I sent her the picture so she could see it wasn't too risque, and she then said "gross, nice scar, Mom".

Had trouble. (& she's amazing on a computer)....now
I seem to remember,,,,,all the pix were bigger than life...That kind of reality, I don't

Yea, I kinda always have a "serious desire to connect with my new family and help those who come after me with their surgeries" ummm yeah, like all day and night.

Having all you friends makes this recovery process easier knowing everyone on this forum is going through the same thing and that you can ask a question or post a comment and get a response pretty quickly. You also can help someone else in their time of need. Its a nice comforting feeling.

You all crack me up! My knees are on the knee picture string but I can't say that I would post my butt on here! I currently have a scar that starts mid-thigh on the outside and runs up the front of my hip, circles around over the top of the hip and ends about mid-butt. Can't say how my surgeon will decide to cut when I have this hip replaced. Maybe I'll have a giant P if he decides to connect the scars! Karen

Judles, I'm a Mac user, too. If your pics are in an iPhoto library, you can resize & export as a JPG, then follow Jo's photobucket instructions with no problem. PM me if you'd like me to help walk you through the iPhoto part.
