I forgot to mention. The main problem with my right knee is between the patella and the femur. I think the Synvisc has helped to keep things going between the femur and tibia. The real problem for me most of the time with the right knee is getting up and down and climbing stairs. It was almost as painful as the operated knee for the first week and a half after surgery. Now the left knee takes its share of the weight getting up, and the Relafen has kicked back in. :-)

Your first info is about those on corticosteroid oral treatment. My body has overproduced cortisol (still not sure if I have Cushings disease).
This overproduction has certainly led to osteoperosis, muscle weakness (couldn't open my gas cap) I do have low growth hormone also (I give myself nightly injections)

I have injections in my spine on a regular basis as I do not see an alternative.
At this point in time my body has only trace amounts of cortisol (very low abnormal) so I am ready for injections anywhere that hurts!!!

Don't think it is, Judy.

The opening statement says "
In my opinion, the quickest way for an patient or athlete to lose strength at the ligament-bone junction (fibro-osseous junction) is to inject cortisone to that area. Cortisone and other steroid injections ALL have the same detrimental effects on articular cartilage."

But that and the second article still goes to show what I often say about such things "There as many different approaches/philosophies as there are doctors"!

Jo,

Couldn't really say, Judy. Not my line of expertise, I'm afraid.

Thanks Jo
I'll ask my spine doc just for curiosity as they sometimes work quite well.
I have too many arthritic joints to keep it all straight
