Default Update on back

Well I have seen my surgeon twice now since getting out of the hospital. Yesterday was for the results of the brain MRI. I was still feeling too out of it to ask for a copy although I already ordered one from the imaging center. My doc told me the swelling was going down and attributed to my seizures. Not a lot of info there.
I told him that my left arm had jerked up the other nite . also the previous nite when I could not sleep both arms jerked up pretty high simultaneously. He checked my reflexes and found them abnormal and said it was definately damage from the seizures. I am not sure what any of that means for me. I will probably call him next week when he gets back from a little vacation.
Also will see the neurologist soon and ask her.

We had a discussion on my limitations. He says I am free to do anything. He is way to liberal. He told me I could drive. I do not feel my reaction time is anywhere near where it needs to be so I will wait.
I had to prove to him that bending to pick something off even a pretty high surface is very painful. All those cut back muscles, so he saw as I tried to pick his pen up off a chair.
He did last time and this time do thhis wonderful stretch on me , it really feels good, I hope my pt knows it. He told me to explain it to my husband, I just laughed. First , me explaining it!!!! Then my husband getting it !!!! He is standing behind me when he does this so I could not even see .
Then we had the pain med discussion . He already wants me to cut back. Acdtually he only wants me to take 4 10mg percocets per 24 hours which is what he originally prescribed. My primary care doc gave me a script for up to 8 per day. We agreed on 6 per day for the next week or 2, but I really don't see me being out of serious pain that soon. It will have been 4 weeks tomorrow.

Anyway I am a tiny bit better and only worried about pain control. I am sure I have built up some level of pain tolerance and will just have to discuss this next time I am low on meds!!!!

Keep healing everyone, it hopefully can only get better. Oh with just the lilttle bit of walking in the house my arthroscopic knee has started hurting again. Not anywhere near the back pain, I seem to just be aware of it now.

Judy, I would think the neurologist will be the one to talk to about damage from the seizures and what that will mean for you long term.

I'm not sure I understand your doctor's reluctance to provide you with adequate pain relief. Is there some special health issue he's worried about? Being in that much pain puts your whole body in stress, which seems to me to be a bad thing.

Take heart, though....even a "tiny bit better" is still going the right direction!

Judy, your surgeon tells you it's okay to drive and also okay to take 4 10mg doses of Percoset each day? Maybe he just wasnt thinking.

I think you are right in waiting to drive. Make your husband and the kiddos do a few things for a while. Take care of yourself. Karen

Jamie I am not sure what his reluctance is either although I did read up on percocet and for 10 mg caps it does limit you to 6 per day (maybe 4). I think he just doesn't want me to exceed the maximum although he did mention addiction adn said it would be a big problem for us to deal with.

today my daughter brought me to Target. It had been 5 hours since my dose of 20 mg adn I was hurting. I took 10 mg in the car and 20 minutes later after walking and trying to pick out valentines day cards (from the top shelf) I was in pain. 10 minutes later I was in a lot of pain and had to sit down. so I took the second percocet. It is really hard to play catch up with pain so I am really not in good shape yet. Oh that was all 2 hours ago.

I am hoping in the next few days I am able to concentrate on reading. Some good books will help the resting part of me!!!

Driving and drugs I agree bad very bad combo!!!!
