Thanks Milanfire, that's just about the last thing I wanted to read with my hemi only 11 months old !

What do you, or your OS think that caused it to fall apart so soon ?

I have only really become completely 'healed' in all aspects, don't want to start again... I've got some living and travelling to do !

Sorry yours may work fine so dont get discouraged. My main problem is working road constrution and be fire chief. As I am not bragging I have always been one to lead from the front and that means donoing all the gear and tanks for fire dept,my men deserve to know if Iam sending them into harms way that I will always also go there! So with that the in and out of big equipment and the weight og fire and what it entails is not a good combo.

Aww milan! That's no fair! I'd much sooner have been wrong.

Ellen, milan is right, most of them do just fine. My sister in law is currently in year 5 and doing just great. She's in her 70s and they go dancing often and holidays abroad, lots of walking. She's more like a 40 yr old than 70!

BUT it has to be said, there is fair conversion rate, so much that a number of surgeons of my acquaintance (which actually isn't that great a number!) have stopped doing partials becaause they got fed up with having to tell patients they needed to be converted 4-8 years down the line. But there are still far more that don't need converting than do!

One NZer....I believe what happens in many cases with a partial is not that the implant wears out but instead the arthritis gets worse in the remaining compartments of the knee joint requiring a TKR to be done at a later date. Granted, in Milanfire2's case, I'm sure all that activity may have been a factor in hastening the arthritis buildup in the areas of the knee that had been okay when the PKR was done.

Here's hoping you are in the group that gets many years from their PKR!!!

Here is the study proving exactly what both you Milan (for time before wearing out) and Jo (replacement years) told us.

Jo, I don't find these articles they come to me !

Via this site http://www.orthosupersite.com sign up if you can, they send updates regularly and nearly always on topics being discussed here. Maybe they read the BoneSmart forum too.

I hope you have less hassle than I did, the site kept trying to put me in Swaziland !
