Depuy Metal on Metal. Modular type, so the cup & ball can be easily changed to better materials should one arise, or replacement if worn.
It's tuneable! Mary Lou Retton got this type.

OK, I got the skinny from my doc.
Depuy "Corail" stem component, uncemented. Depuy "Pinnacle" ball and socket. 43mm metal femoral head, with metal removeable inner cup.

DePuy Pinnacle acetabular component. OS had planned Corrail, but could get better fit of femoral component with DePuy Summit. Metal on metal.

I have a Biomet Taperloc - My surgeon said they usually test range of motion before closing and he was unable to dislocate the joint while I was on the table. I had NO restrictions coming out of surgery and was putting my socks on unassisted within one week.
