Lemuel Clay, 66 |
|
As a fitness enthusiast, Lemuel Clay had always enjoyed an active life – until hip arthritis caused such pain that even simple things, such as sitting and watching a movie, became difficult. Now retired, Lemuel was a Chicago police officer when his left hip started to bother him. “I couldn’t sleep,” recalls Lemuel, 66. “When you can’t sleep, it’s time to do something.” He had traditional hip replacement surgery on his left hip, and it was several months before he was back at work. Then his right hip started hurting. Although he’d had a successful outcome with his left hip, he remembered the long, painful recovery. This time, he opted for a minimally invasive hip replacement procedure. From getting off crutches to driving again, his recovery was faster with the less-invasive procedure. “My wife and I can finally go to dinner and a movie again, and I’m back to doing my regular exercises,” Lemuel said. “My 1-year-old great-grandson follows me around, and it’s nice to be able to pick him up and play with him, without pain.” Patient testimonial provided by Zimmer, Inc. |
