    THR THR - One year on

    Seventeen months post surgery and still regularly noticing improvements. Fingers crossed one day soon I will finally be rid of the limp/waddle. :happyfeet:

    THR THR - One year on

    Joking aside, I didn’t really feel at all prepared for the physical recovery from my hip replacement and even less so for the mental recovery and the hyper vigilance and anxiety that goes with it. I would say i am mostly recovered on all fronts but not completely. Maybe I never will entirely...

    THR THR - One year on

    I thought I had some new zips and zaps lying in bed just now and anxiously thought I might have overdone it. Until I realised I was lying on the zip of my hoody. :heehee: Phew!

    THR THR - One year on

    And another good day - 12000 steps and an aqua aerobics session. As well as a good dose of Vitamin D even if it is a bit chilly here in the UK. A glass of wine and a dose of Norwegian Noir on the TV in front of the woodburner. Happy Days.

    @myglasshalffull - 16 months post operation. :heehee:

    THR THR - One year on

    Still a bit twingy yesterday and dithered about going to Thai Chi. In the end I took a couple painkillers and had a really nice session. It was a busy day and by the end of it I had racked up 13000 steps, the most in years. Although I felt a bit tired, I actually also felt energised and had a...

    THR THR - One year on

    Only two days after a positive post and not feeling quite as positive. My hip seems a bit achy for the first time in a long time and I think maybe I have been overdoing it. I’m hoping it’ll settle and just turn out to have been a niggle rather than turning into anything worse. Just reminds me...

    THR Hot Chocolate's Recovery Thread

    @Hotchocolate - I totally get how irritating it is faffing about in the changing room after swimming - I always manage to get something wet. :swim:

    THR THR - One year on

    Sixteen months today. Nothing new to report. Walking more without the stick but still have a limp (well more of a waddle really). I’m being inducted into the Assisted Ladies Gym this week to try and focus on specific weaknesses. I don’t even really know what that means but my Tai Chi teacher...

    THR Barb's Hip Recovery - RTHR

    @Barb56 Interesting what you say about the limp. I’ve still got a slight limp fourteen months on and beginning to wonder if I’ll ever get rid of it. I’ve given up on the read and yellow thingies but maybe I should start them again. No one ever mentioned ‘raggedy tendons’. Nice description btw.

    THR THR - One year on

    @myglasshalffull stamina is improving but you’re right, it’s taken a while. A few zingers after tai chi which I haven’t felt for a while- hopefully just waking up those areas still feeling a bit lacking. Not perfect Still limping. Have found nhs online chair yoga so I’ll give it a go but the...

    THR THR - One year on

    I’ve seen some adds for chair yoga online but I haven’t tried it yet. @Elf1 I’m also better at getting out to do things than doing them at home. Plus it’s twenty minutes walk there and twenty minutes back. And the tai chi is followed by coffee with friends afterwards. Win, win, win

    THR THR - One year on

    Still enjoying tai chi and getting the hang of the breathing and the moves now. I still feel the need of a chair for support at times but I don’t feel as exhausted afterwards as I did a few weeks ago. Now to crack the Aqua aerobics tomorrow. That really does knock the stuffing out of me...

    THR THR - One year on

    Fifteen months post op yesterday. Went to a Tai Chi class. Not quite the first time ever - that was at sunrise on a misty boat deck in Halong Bay - so not quite as atmospheric. Managed all of the exercises to some degree although my back is definitely very stiff, my knees are a bit creaky, my...

    THR Sleeping position

    Echoing the advice about lots of pillows and napping whenever you can. It will get better. :zzz:

    THR Cold symptoms?

    @Noxus - my surgery was postponed for six weeks because I tested positive for Covid. I only thought I had a cold and only tested because I was going in for some pre op stuff. I was barely ill at all but the six weeks was to make sure the chest was clear. Based in the UK. Op end of 2022 so the...

    THR Chocolatine's New Hip

    Just read your previous post about your day out and how well things were going and then found the next one. Sorry to hear you’re in pain and facing another operation albeit not connected. The ups and downs. Good luck and I’ll look out for you again on the other side.

    THR THR - One year on

    Almost fifteen months and another milestone. My first long hot soak in the bath. Bliss! Not that I haven’t stayed clean but the heating element in the walking shower has gone so faced with a warm strip wash (which was how I started post op), a freezing cold shower or negotiating a nice warm...

    @benne68 - I knew I’d seen someone asking but I couldn’t remember who.

    THR THR - One year on

    I don’t know who was talking about alignment recently but it made me have a think because one of the things I noticed quite strongly to start with was that the foot on my operated leg turned out quite significantly after the THR whereas I have always been a bit pigeon toed. So I checked just now...
